How long does Schengen visa processing take from the UAE?
The official standard processing time is 15 days. It can be extended to up to 45 days if the consulate needs a more detailed examination or additional documents, and appointment wait times vary by consulate and season.
When should I apply for a Schengen visa?
Official rules say you must submit your application at least 15 days before your trip and no earlier than 6 months beforehand. Applying early is sensible during peak travel seasons.
What documents are required for a Schengen visa from the UAE?
Common requirements include a passport valid for at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, a completed application form, a photo meeting ICAO standards, travel medical insurance, flight and accommodation details, proof of financial means, and your UAE residence and employment documents. The consulate may ask for more.
Do I need an appointment and biometrics for Schengen visa applications?
In most cases, yes. You may need to book an appointment before you submit your application, and your fingerprints are collected when you submit it unless you fall into an exempt category.
Which Schengen country should I apply through?
Apply through the country where you will spend the longest time. If your stays are of equal length, apply through the first Schengen country you will visit. As a general rule, you apply to the consulate responsible for the country where you are legally resident.
What travel insurance is required for a Schengen visa?
Your policy must cover emergency medical care, hospitalisation and repatriation, be valid throughout the Schengen area for your whole trip, and provide minimum cover of €30,000, as set by EU rules. Check any further requirements with the consulate you are applying to.
